NEW STUFF

Changes to The Henry County Web

The changes to The Henry County Web have begun!

You'll notice a different colored and functioning site navigation bar at the top of the main page and portions of the web that have already been updated.
There is a new News Scroller on the main page of the site. Some of the news items include links, just click on the text you are interested in more information displayed.
There are now City Pages...for the five incorporated cities. That are all basic information pages, except for Eminence, which leads you to their own website.
There are new photos from this years favorite events and a new section of photos from Six Mile Creek.
There is already at least one new e-Postcards From Henry County With Love and more to come!

Still to come: Video HC, short video presentations featuring our county--and MORE.

We are approaching our 6th Anniversary! Yeppers...six years of The Henry County Web and we're still going.

Other goodies: Have a look at the new Henry County Economic Development website. There you will find loads! of interesting information and facts about our county that you probably never knew. Web sites cross oceans and borders so people all around the world can learn about us.

Recycling Update

Please note that RECYCLING DATES have CHANGED. Recycling will now be every-other month on the following schedule through the remainder of 2003. The information below also appears on the web site on the following page:

Second Saturday of October (10/11)
Campbellsburg: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
New Castle: 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Second Saturday of November (11/8)
Eminence: 10:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m.
Pleasureville: 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

Second Saturday of December (12/13)
Campbellsburg: 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
New Castle: 1:30 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.

FLU SEASON

Yes, it's that time of year that flu is a factor. Flu doesn't get the respect it deserves. It can be very serious. It is costly to "get over" whether the cost is from medication, or lost time at work or school, but it is relatively inexpensive to prevent or subdue the effects. (Besides, who wants to feel sick and miserable and miss out the fun stuff in life!?) Flu shots are available from many sources from doctors and clinics to even some special event locations. The Henry County Health Center (on Property Rd.) has reserved October 20th, and 21st for flu shots from 8:00 to 4:30, but you must call for an appointment and they are filling fast. The vaccine is $15.00 unless you are on Medicare--bring your Medicare card and get you shot for free. There are some cautions regarding who should and shouldn't get the vaccine.

EVENTS

Drennon Days!
October 11 & 12, Saturday and Sunday

Another year and another great celebration of history, country cooking and crafts, fun and all in a beautiful setting. Activities officially start at 10:00 am Saturday and continue past 7 p.m. On Sunday join in as early as 7:30 a.m. for a country breakfast.

County Wide Clean Up Day
October 18, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Henry County Fairgrounds (and assignments)

County Wide Clean Up is not just a "hafta do"--it's a campaign that instills pride and beautifies the environment so we can all enjoy the glorious place where we live. Teams of volunteers are requested to meet at the Henry County Fairgrounds in New Castle for a "starter" of coffee and donuts, gloves and other safety apparatus, and road assignments.
(Rain Date: Saturday, October 25th.)

This is the only information available at this writing but there may be changes and additions, so please check The Henry County Local this coming week, or contact your other team members/leaders.
